Burch, John W.,
Eric Smith and and I are planning on going to Miller tomorrow, he has a couple of tandems booked and I just want to fly. We'll likely be in the LZ between 8:00 and 8:30 AM.

Re: Miller this week
Burch, I'd strongly encourage you to go with a local for your first flight at Miller. It's more likely to result in a flight that way, and the road to launch has a locked gate to deal with. I understand there might be someone going down there tomorrow (Friday). Not sure, but if you're interested I c...

Re: Miller weekend?
Latest forecast is split on direction, ADDS has it southeast all day, SoaringPredictor has it SE early going NE later in the afternoon. Velocities are all similar at 5-10 kts, stinking high top of lift, 20% chance of rain, predicted high in S.V. is 102 (better than Tucson's predicted 113). We'll be ...

Miller weekend?
It looks amazing for Miller both Saturday and Sunday, winds aloft forecast 5-10 east-ish. Forecast top of lift >18000 MSL. Basically no chance of rain.
Anyone thinking about flying?

Not-good weekend forecast
Saturday winds aloft are forecast strong SW early going W, then back SW. Sunday is very strong SW all day. Sunday might be good for the Whetstones but I don't really feel up to that hike in this weather.
Guess it's a honey-do weekend, unless the forecast changes unexpectedly.

Called off, sadly. Winds aloft now 10 kts SW in the morning, weather moved in from the west a little faster than originally forecast.

Re: Miller Saturday?
Eric Smith, Orrin Smith and I all flew. PG pilot David (sorry, I don't know the last name) arrived as we were setting up on the southeast launch but as far as I know didn't set up or fly. The winds were very light as predicted, but the cycles on the southeast launch were substantial and mostly strai...

Miller Saturday?
Miller looks ok for tomorrow (Saturday), ADDS predicts L&V AM but light SE in the PM. Soaring ceiling (-3) around 14k, predicted thermals 700-800 fpm. Not sure how it would be for the PG launches but it definitely looks like the SE launch will be usable for HG. I talked to Eric Smith and we're plann...

Re: Miller mañana?
Not that it looks real good for XC this weekend, but be aware there is a TFR for this Saturday and Sunday around Libby Field in Sierra Vista. It extends from 9000 MSL to 18000 MSL to a distance of 8 nautical miles from the airport in approximately a half-circle with the flat side parallel and slight...

Miller mañana?
Saturday looks pretty good for Miller HG, may be a little strong for PG. 6000' winds aloft are predicted E 10-15 all day long. Dr. Jack thinks the thermals will be moderate, 400-600 fpm, and the top of lift and -3 will be reasonable if not epic, 13k and 10k respectively. Anyone interested? John 520 ...
