Re: Box on Sunday
Started hiking at 4PM. Arrived top of Box 6PM. The trail is lost. Completely overgrown. Occasionally I would see a cairn built by Lew Smith 25 years ago, but otherwise it was bushwhacking. Ross lost his K9 companion of the last decade, Charlotte, yesterday. He buried her in the desert with a view of...

Re: Lemmon on Sunday?
John,
Jonesing to fly. Busy on Sunday, and Lemmon is way too big a commitment for me at the moment. I am way not current. Ross and I have been trying to get to Mustang or Box. We can get away during the week.

Re: Old Pueblo 50 Mile Santa Rita Trail Run
Morey, you looked terrific at 40 miles, really solid and composed. Congratulations on a fabulous run. What did your GPS say the final distance was? 52 miles?

Re: Old Pueblo 50 Mile Santa Rita Trail Run
Morey, I'll have some good veggie food for you at mile 40. No bacon if I have any say in the matter. I spent a month on a sailboat recently - no running - and there is no way I will be ready to cover 50 miles by race day. But I have resumed my training and will be doing an ultra in the next year. Th...

Old Pueblo 50 Mile Santa Rita Trail Run
Morey and I are signed up to do the Old Pueblo 50 this year, but I'm not ready so I am going to work the aid station at 40 miles. Come help me cheer Morey on to a successful ultra marathon finish. Volunteers are needed to staff aid stations and the barbeque “kitchen” at the finish line. Volunteers c...

Re: Mustang SAt 11/29
I'd love a stress free flight. Winds aloft look a bit strong.

Miller on Sunday? Anyone?
Eric Smith, I haven't flown a HG in ages and would appreciate your expert guidance with my return.

Favorite Time to Fly
This is my favorite time of the year to fly. The moisture makes the thermals fat and smooth. So I hope to get after it in the coming weeks. Would love to fly my HG again.

Re: Forecast looks good for Box
I couldn’t find any pilots available to fly with me, so a non-pilot friend graciously agreed to go with me and mind the dogs while I flew. We parked at the LZ and I hoisted my glider onto my back. Scattered throughout the LZ were the first yellow and orange Mexican poppy blooms of the season and sca...

Less dramatic footage from yesterday.
Yes, I definitely stalled my wing. I took a collapse, pumped it out with the brakes, stalled the wing, and it turned back into the hillside as it dove. It was terrifying.

Re: Forecast looks good for Box
Scariest flight of my life. I am lucky to be alive. Got it all on video. Will post a report tomorrow.
