As of thursday afternoon- the forecast for Saturday:

Looks to be either a Miller Morning, or a good day for a PG glassoff at Mustangs.

or both :D

As of Friday afternoon- it still looks good for both.

Miller is where we would like to go! Southwest prediction for the area, however light velocity, the wind should blow south east till mid day. 0730 departure.

Sunday looks like a Whetstones day!

I cannot fly on Saturday (my grandson's first birthday party), but I'd like to fly on Sunday.

John,
The current forecast calls for a breeze of 10 to 15 on Sunday, might be a bit to much for PG?
I still have your A mt tee shirt, I `ll get it to you when I see you.

As of Friday pm I'm looking at Box for Sat afternoon. I expect winds at the lower launch to be around 12 -13 mph out of the wsw to w till 5pm. Could be a nice glass-off.

Given the evening's updated wind predictions I think it could be a bit south for the bag wings at Miller. My bias based on tonight's forecast would be a Mustang glassoff, but tomorrow morning's update should give a better idea.

Yeah- right now, it really does look perfect for a Mustang Glassoff.

Wow- the winds forecast really changed. 10 from the south this morning at Miller, and 16kts WSW this evening at Box or 'Stangs.

I'm heading down to Miller. Eric's vehicle has a sizeable group, so if it's not flyable- at least we'll all have company.

AM Update

Post by Fred » Sat Apr 08, 2006 8:14 am

As Morey pointed out there's a bit of a disconnect between the forecasts. NCEP is light SW while FSL is showing strong SW by glassoff time. If they are right the choices for the bag wings seems to be to fly earlier in the afternoon (Box or Mustang) and risk strong thermals / dust devils or wait until later and risk getting blown out.
