Saturday 5-7-05 - Looks Stronger
Moderators:ioan, John Wolfe, aaroncromer, jlowery
Looks like solid SW winds today (Fri), due to the low pressure system moving into northern AZ, but as the low heads north and east tomorrow and gradients spread it appears to be light SW tomorrow. Possibly light enough to do Miller in the morning, or possibly not waning until later.
Being biwingal 1. increases the opportunities to fly, but 2. makes it more difficult to choose.
It won't be strong enough for the Whetstones in a HG- but probably light enough SW to do Box in a HG or PGing glassoff. Or, perhaps light enough for the Mustangs glass- wouldn't that be nice?
I'll go in any direction- whereever we have a critical mass of Stiffies or Bags. Who else wants to get airtime tomorrow?- and what are your thoughts?
(this post will be updated as the weather evolves)
as of 4pm Friday- it's looking too SW in the morning for Miller, but light SW in teh afternoon for PG at either Box or 'Stangs. I say we fly the bags.
OK Now as of 10pm Fri, the RUC2 model forecast is up as far out as 8am, and Ft. Huachuca will have 20 kts at launch level. Not good for Miller in the morn- but still lookin' good for Mustangs in the afternoon!
Now, Saturday morning- the weather has changed again. The Soundings FSL are predicting stronger winds than last night. WSW 15kts this afternoon and evening Possibly perfect for HG at the 'Stones. However ADDS is still saying light enought for PG. It's good to be biwingal. I'm off to Eric's this morn to put the new sail on my wing and will be back on line at noon to check where I'm going.

Saturday is the annual ham radio swap meet in Sierra Vista. It's on Moson road east and north of Miller LZ. Might be something to check out if not flyable. I went once 10 years ago when it was blown out at the Miller fly-in and picked up a working HP11c caculator for $2.50.
Moson road, a couple miles south of Fry blvd. Big antena farm visible.

Count me in for the Mustangs
I'd love to fly the Mustangs today if some other members are going.

Well, Allen and I were the only two other potential pilots, and we decided not to go.Hansen wrote:I'd love to fly the Mustangs today if some other members are going.
