I'm planning on trying Miller on Saturday. The soaring forecasts this week have been kind of winter-like, top of lift < 9000. But ya' never know, it might be good.
Anyone else interested in making the trek?

still not sure by the forecast that it will be east vs. westerly. I'm going to hold out until am Wx for commitment.

I'll be picking Orrin Smith and aiming for 9 AM in the LZ.
Bill Holmes (HG instructor from Phoenix) said yesterday he may be bringing some students.
We may need to shuttle up to pick up vehicles if there aren't enough drivers.

Miller Saturday Report
Ok 
Jerry Hain, Orrin Smith, Gunter Schmidt and his driver (Rick, I think) and I met visitoring instructor Bill Holmes, another pilot named Bill whose last name I didn't get and their driver, a very nice lady named Ruby. We all threw on with Bill Holmes and drove up to launch where it was blowing in beautifully, southeast maybe 5-8. Gunter took his PG out to the east launch, while we HGs set up there.
Jerry Hain took off first in his Ultrasport at around 12:30. It was a little overcast by this point and he got pretty low but then scratched hard to get back up above the east launch. Orrin went next in his trusty K2, and also got up. By the time Bill launched in his Northwing Illusion (like a Vision) it was getting pretty good and he popped right up, getting maybe a thousand over with Jerry and Orrin.
Bill Holmes was next on his Ecstacy. The 40' span rigid wing took a little maneuvering to get past the bushes onto launch, but once there Bill took a nice cycle, got up and spent the rest of the time above the pack.
I went last, and found myself struggling, never getting higher than a few hundred over whatever I happened to be flying over, about 8200 MSL max. Everyone else got moderately high, although I don't think anyone broke 10000.
Gunter never got off the east launch, he tried the southeast launch but it wasn't working for him so he ended up bagging it and driving down.
After 30 minutes I got flushed, and landed a short time after Illusion-Bill, and right before Jerry. Orrin came in a few minutes later, followed shortly after by Bill Holmes.
It shut down due to widespread overdevelopment and rain shortly after. My 30 minutes was the shortest flight, Orrin, Jerry and Bill Holmes all managed about an hour. Nice day, and it's always fun showing visitors the site.
