Is Tucson is closer or Flagstaff (Dixon White's hill) is closer for someone wanting to fly PG from Phx?

That's a toss up. What side of Phoenix are you coming from? From Sky Harbor it's1.5 hours to Tucson. I'm guessing it's almost 2.5 to 3 to the craters. The problem is that all of Tucsons sites are an additional hour drive south plus an hour or two hike. Miller is over a 2 hour drive to top but then no hike. Comparing the flying- craters are easier for multiple flights but blows out often. I have rarely had a great flight at the craters. We also blow out often, but I have had spectacular flights at all our sites. You should also consider Apache maid, Aubery Cliffs, and just driving to San Diego for the weekends. Good luck, Ross

I would say that it's generally much easier to fly your PG from Phoenix to Tucson, than to fly it to Flagstaff. Launch South mountain on a day when the winds aloft are from the NW, and you'll be able to fly to Tucson. The only person I know who has done it (in a HG) was Dustin. Just follow I10, and there's plenty of LZ's along the way.

Have fun! :D
