Box Canyon Weather Station

Post by John Wolfe » Fri Oct 07, 2016 8:41 am

We want to put a remote weather station, accessible via phone, at the top of Box Canyon. The primary goal here is to make it safer to launch from the new drive-up mid launch. We especially want to avoid launching into the sinking rotor produced by southerly winds.
If you'd like to contribute to the purchase of the weather station, please post here or contact me at j_r_wolfe@msn.com.

What's the initial cost and up keep? Is there a monthly service cost to use the app?
Thanks

Roughly $750 initial investment. We're looking for inexpensive cell-phone data service now, but it will probably be pretty cheap because the device doesn't use much data per unit time. We haven't decided on the access model yet. It could be free to anyone who has a link, or we could charge a subscription fee. We can discuss this at the next club meeting.
