The photo gallery is back

Post by jlowery » Sun Mar 10, 2013 4:17 pm

I've finally ported the old photo gallery albums and photos into the new message board software. Everything is there, including the personal albums.

Registered, logged-in users will be able to view, post and comment on photos. Guests (users not logged in) can view, but not post or comment on photos. SAHGA members (those wiith access to the members-only forum) can also have a separate personal photo album.

To view the new photo Gallery, find the 'Gallery' link in the upper-right part of the message board screen. Click on it and you will see a list of available Albums. If you have a personal photo album, it will appear at the end of the list. Click on an album to see the available photos, or to post one of your own. To upload a photo from your computer, click on the 'Upload Image' link in the upper-left part of the album screen, and follow the directions that pop up.

Linking photos into your message board posts is much easier than it used to be. When you display a photo in an album, at the lower edge there is a box that says: 'Image BB-Code'. Just copy the data there (it looks like

Code: Select all

[album]873[/album]
and past it into you message. Here's an example. You can click on the thumbnail to see the full-sized image:
873
You'll also see an 'Image URL' box that contains a web URL that you can post or email to anyone with a web browser so they can see the photo without logging into the message board.

If you are a SAHGA member and don't already have a personal photo album, you can create one by clicking on the link that says 'User Control Panel (# new messages)' in the upper-left part of the message board screen. Then click on the Gallery tab, and you'll see a button that will create your personal album. If you already have one, you'll be able to manage some of the features there.

if you have any problems using the new photo gallery, please let me know. Either email webmaster@sahga.com, or PM, or reply to this post.

Enjoy,
John
