SAHGA MEETING, FEBRUARY 12, 2013. ATTENDENCE 4

The meeting was called to order at 7:15 by president Andy Miller. Turkey of the month nominations: Ross Hughes self nominated for a flight he had in Morocco. He launched into a rotor and was collapsed and thrashed until he could fly out of it. He and his buddy Martin almost did the same thing 3 days later when they left the slight upslope wind on the side of the mountain and went to the top where they found blowing 35 mph over the back.. Ross got the award. He then entertained us with a host of Morocco stories form his three week trip there. Plenty of places to fly and it's cheap to live there, but maybe next time he will take a phone, a GPS, and a map.

We discussed Lane's accident at Soboba. He did throw his chute but it didn't open in time to break his fall. It did drag him lover the ground. He has extensive injuries but we had heard no more information on his condition. There is a fund set up to help him during his recovery.

Eagle of the month also went to Ross Hughes for the same flight were he flew over a village and landed amid the great acclaim of the 1000 people.

The cancer walk is March 3 as planed. We did get 10 people to sign up. There is a fly in at Oatman March 16-17. Rafael is still trying to find people interested in a parachute repack event. Ross is going back to Mt Palomar April 5-8. Out chapter status with USHPA has been renewed and out insurance has been paid,
