Site insurance news

As reported in the last meeting, the USHPA was having problems renewing our site insurance this year. As a result we're having to develop risk mitigation plans for each site that we fly, which is in progress.

This was in an email blast received tonight from USHPA:
We are pleased to report the insurance policy for 2012 has been renewed. Please keep in mind; USHPA's ability to renew was CONTINGENT on USHPA chapters completing Risk Assessment and Mitigation Plans for sites they insure and/or manage. Final Risk Assessment and Mitigation Plans must be kept on file with each Chapter. Each year the insurance carrier will be performing random site visits to review plans and audit sites to assure compliance. If a chapter's plan is insufficient, delinquent or there is non-compliance at the site, the insurance company or USHPA may revoke site insurance coverage or USHPA chapter status. Remember, this requirement applies to both insured and uninsured sites under the management or control of a chapter.

We know chapters are anxious to obtain site insurance certificates. You should receive them by May 24th.
