Saturday and Sunday Morning SE 9mph
Moderators:ioan, John Wolfe, aaroncromer, jlowery
Looks like it could be a decent weekend on "A" mtn. A bit too light for the HGs but could be just enough for the PGs. I'm planning on checking it out. Send a message if you're interested.

inquiry minds want to know
What are you looking at to make you think its flyable at the A?
I'm not good at predicting this sight so don't mind me.
I see light winds (~5mph) out of the NE for Saturday and light winds (~5mph) out of the SE for Sunday. To me Sunday looks just slightly better. Top of lift is within a few 100ft of the ground (basically non existent).
Let me know what you are looking at and then let me know how it turns out.
Have a nice flight.

Both Sat. and Sun. have three hour windows in the forecast for good velocity and direction.
Sat: SE 9mph from 0800-1100
Sun: SE 8mph from 0800-1100
If conditions look good on launch tomorrow I'd like to launch at 0900.
Check out this link for a detailed hour by hour wind speed and direction for the airport (I anticipate it being a little stronger at launch).

I'm getting a slightly less favorable forecast through XC skies so we'll just have to see how it plays out on site.

Sherry & I arrived at the top (parking lot) at 9 AM to very light (or zero) winds.
Eric, Whitney and Lane arrived at ~ 9:30. We hung around an hour but conditions did not improve, remaining very light and variable.
Sherry and I then did some hiking on Tumamoc, then checked back on A Mt about noonish and some north breeze had started to pick up.
We may have another look at it tomorrow if other flying opportunity does not present itself.

A few of us were going to tow up at PRA but Mark Knight called saying it was gusting and he had cancelled his first flights of the morning. We hung out about 30 minutes and Mark called back reporting walls of dust and all flights were cancelled. Nice to meet you Lane and good seeing you Terry and Sherry.
Sherry and I went back up today (Sunday/ and after putting a streamer in the LZ) and it was coming in from the south at about 4-8 mph, so I set up (with Sherry as ground crew and retrieve driver) and kited a bit in the parking lot, then just walked the wing across the road, down the ramp and off. Launch was good and I easily flew around to the east side and did some short s-turns before landing to the south. This was my first "A" Mt flight.
It was so nice we went back up and did it again, much the same, but I was able to work the east side better and maintained for a few minutes before landing. The LZ winds were calm on approach, but I may have got a little tail wind on touch down as I had to run it out a bit. We went up for a third look, but the wind had died, and even a little over the back (from the north), so we called it good and headed home. It was a nice experience and Sherry took a few photos:
