SIV in August

Post by flydoc » Tue Apr 19, 2011 10:19 pm

Hi y'all,

Ioan and I will be attending 2 back-to-back SIV clinics with Brad Gunnuscio through Eagle paragliding at Lake Barryessa from August 4-9th. Ioan will be flying to San Francisco and I am thinking of driving and picking him up there. It would be a good time for more SAHGA pilots to sign up.

I'm excited about the clinic and I just sent my glider to Rising Air for a yearly inspection and repair. I had some frayed lines and a brake line anchor that pulled almost completely loose somehow. The desert sure is rough on the poor thing...

Also, Brad is planning on a new yearly XC clinic that will take place in Colombia in January. I also have vacation time during this month as well and might be going. I've been to Colombia before, and it's a great country, very safe, and beautiful.

1 spot available for the August 7-9 SIV

It looks like one of the pilots signed up for the SIV August 7-9 has hurt his back and can't make it. He is looking for someone to take his place. Let me know if anyone is interested. Aaron and I will be there.

The clinic was a success despite two broken boats and one broken winch. Ioan and I were able to get almost 2 clinics' worth of tows in, and we progressed well beyond a full course and perfected our full-stalls, spirals, wingovers, and even did a couple SATs on the last tow (before the boat broke...again...)

It was a great 6 days in California, and well worth signing up for 2 courses at once. I flew for over 3 hours at Dunlap shortly after the course, which was great. My instructor was there to sign me off for a new paragliding rating, topping off a perfect vacation.

Sorry about the equipment issues, but I'm really glad you guys participated in this clinic. Now that you're back in town I hope to share the air with you sometime soon.
