Dry Canyon Columbus Day Fly-in

Robin Hastings of the Rio Grande Soaring Association has asked me to let everyone know that they will be holding an informal fly-in on Columbus Day weekend, at Dry Canyon, Alamogordo, NM.

If you've never flown Dry Canyon, it's a really impressive mountain site. It's about 2400' vertical, H3/P3, and faces the usual prevailing winds, looking west toward Alamogordo and the White Sands National Monument. The main LZ is a city park (grass!). Walking the main and bailout LZs is highly recommended for first-time visitors. For detailed site and contact information see http://rgsa.info/SiteInfo/siteinfo.htm.

Alamogordo is about a 5 hour drive from Tucson. There's dry camping available at the city park LZ, and a number of inexpensive motels nearby.
