Mingus Fly-in

This was in the AHGA Thermal Flyer this month:

Come to The Mingus Mountain Labor Day Fly-in

We're doing a 3-day fun fly-in at Mingus over Labor Day weekend (fri, sat, sun). 40 bucks gets you a tee-shirt, a barbeque dinner Saturday night, a pilot's breakfast Sunday morning, and the chance to win lots of trophies Sunday evening. Bomb Drop, Spot Landing, Combined Bomb & Spot, Open Distance XC, Duration, Triangle Task, Best This, Worst That, and a few others.

USHGA membership is required, and always gets you free camping at launch in Prescott National Forest. We have a bailout a mile up the road from Cottonwood Airport, which is our 'real' LZ. It's about 4000 vertical and either 4:1 or 5:1 glide to the LZ. Mingus is a morning thermal site - rarely ridge soarable. Go over the back and land in Prescott Valley, or head off in just about any direction for your big mile flights. Flights of up to a million miles are possible!

Normally it's a H3/P3 site but for the fly-in we're opening up to H2s if their local observer (who happens to be someone we know) says they got the right stuff for this site. H2s will get head of line privileges at launch because launch will close earlier for them than the rest of the pilots.

When you register, let Marshall know if you want Bratwurst, Chicken or Salmon.
