Pg Flying report for Miller Sat.

Post by Gunter » Sun Aug 06, 2006 8:17 pm

I launched first of the North launch at 11:20 a.m. into a mild cycle. I flew left (NW) since that was the wind direction. I flew over to the cliffs Nw of launch, but just as Eric found out there was no lift to be found. I sunk out but managed to find some lift just in front of the little peak in front of launch. Eventually I sunk out again but found lift on the way to the Lz, which took me back to launch altitude (7600'). Rick Damiani launched about 10 minutes after I did and we ended up sharing a number of thermals, but never got much above launch. Eventually I sunk out and barely made the Lz; in fact the Lz winds had switched WNW and coming into the Lz I was rotered slightly (causing the sink) until I got just past the electric lines. There I found just enough lift to get me over the lines and to the lz. I flew for 45 min's, max. climb was+500, max sink -800. Rick was much higher coming into the Lz and had no problems making the Lz. Christian also had a good flight. Fred and Jeremy were about to launch but ended up helping get Justins wing out of the tree. Unfortunatly Rick and I could not help since we were in the lz, so we ended up at Nicks Bar for some refreshment.
