Mingus report...new personal best

Jason suggested I post this one.

Thursday, Olie, Jason Otto, Bill, Wyatt (pg), Greg Porter and I launched from Mingus. We all went up fast to beyond 15k. Most of us landed at the fairgrounds since we didn't have a driver while Greg Porter (who had his own driver) did a 63 mile XC to beyond Yarnell I believe...what a pilot he is.

Wyatt did his own XC and landed up on a mesa east of New River about 30 miles north of Phoenix! I had to go find him in the dark way out in the boonies at the end of a dirt road where he had hiked for 5 hours to get to...oops!

Today, me and Bill were the only ones to fly. We both ended up beyond 17k feet, which is a new personal best for me. Neither one of us had oxygen I might add, but if I'd had oxygen I would have continued to climb to cloud base which was another few thousand feet. We both headed to Sedona and landed at the airport there.

And remember, if you're a member of the doubting retard club, send me an email and I will send you my flight logs.

Hey, do I really have to be a member of this doubting retard club just to see your flight log? I don't doubt you, but I just like looking at different tracks to see what route you took and where the good and bad spots are.

Can you please send me a copy when you get time?

Congratulations on you flights :D

Congrats on the flights Eric, and thanks for the compliment on undeserved piloting skills... I just wander around until I find a thermal . Thought some might like to see a video of the XC from Mingus that day. Also here is the track log in a couple of formats.

Hey I hear you flew with Orrin today (Saturday) at Box! Good on ya you airtime junkie! Look forward to flying with you again soon, I hope!

... or here is the Leonardo already in Google Earth format. Right click the URL, save the file to your hard drive, then locate it on your hard drive and double click to launch it right into Google Earth where using the 3D feature in there the flight can be viewed from above or below and with the mountains standing up in 3D. Pretty cool!
