John Wolfe, Andy Miller, new-to-Tucson Ewan Crosbie, and I got up early Sunday and headed north to do some PG towing east of the Estrella Mts. I'd seen a bunch of towing before, but this was my first time actually on tow. Ewan had towed before and John and Andy quite a bit.

We met others from up north, has some skills and safety discussions, then started getting ready. The day was already hot and getting hotter on the ground.

We all made a couple sled rides (as my first tows they were wonderful) and then the thermals started building. Eventually four pilots (John, Andy, Andrew and Brad) got high and started working their way south toward Mobile and then Maricopa. Ewan and I drove chase in John and Andrews SUVs, and it was miles of dusty bumpy roads (at least we had AC) trying to follow their radio chatter, but we finally picked Andrew and John up east of Maricopa. Andrew took off chasing Brad. John, Ewan and I chased Andy way down south of Casa Grande along I-8. We had gone through lots of water, Gatorade, and a beer or two. We all headed home, after a good day for all.
