Improve your flying skills with Wild West Paragliding, Arizona’s newest paragliding school.

We are a team of instructors from Jackson Hole Wyoming with 20 years of combined experience flying tandems, acrobatics, competitions and big cross country flights worldwide. WWPG specializes in tow launch advanced instruction and special skills clinics to help you fly safer, farther and harder.

We would like to announce upcoming spring flying events in Arizona and the surrounding desert states. This will include:

Our hosted clinics will emphasize surface tow launched flight. Towing aspiring pilots of any experience level is an excellent way to provide consistent high-altitude training that is not dependent on “flyable” conditions at the hill. All of these clinics will take advantage of our state of the art Cloud Street hydraulic payout winch and our sweet Baja style tow truck. This new winch has 7,000ft of line which guarantees super high 3,000+ft tows.

Towing presents its own challenges and is unique to normal slope launched flight. Experienced “freeflight” pilots are not necessarily experienced “tow” pilots. USHPA has established a set of guidelines and special skills rating for the sole purpose of enhancing the safety of towing paragliders. The Surface Tow Special Skill (ST) indicates that the pilot has the knowledge to tow and has successfully demonstrated the special skills required for towing paragliders safely. If pilots intend on joining us for any clinics or tow boogies this spring, we require that they possess their Surface Tow Special Skill Rating as per USHPA requirements.

On March 18-20 at the Motown Equinox Fly In and on March 25-27 in southern Arizona, we will be offering Tow Clinics to administer the USHPA Pilot Proficiency Program for the Surface Tow Special Skill. Our weekend clinics are designed to produce safe, competent and relaxed pilots, and include the USHPA paragliding towing guidelines plus our own supplements from years of experience.
