Possible Flying at Box on Sat.

Guido, I may possible fly at Box on Sat. Right now (10pm) it looks a little strong. If I do fly it may be around 1pm since the winds are SSW @ 8mph, which translates to about 12 to 15 at the lower launch. The winds are predicted to increase slightly later in the afternoon. We'll just have to see what the morning forecast projects. Please call me on my cell (520-906-0182) at around 9am. Is anyone else considering Box?

Looks like a Mustang PM to me. I didn't see the increasing winds in the forecast. Should check back after the update.

I'll be at work all day, although there is a chance I could catch an evening flight.

I've got to be back home by 5pm. My plan is to be at the Box Lz at noon, hike up and launch by 1pm. Winda in GV are SSW @ 8mph (12-14 at lower lauch). Guido is meeting me to check out the site. Gunter

Report on Box flight

Guido and I met in the Lz around noon. After a long (and slow) hike to the lower launch, I set up and launched into the beginning of a good cycle around 2:10 pm. This one took me up to 6700 ft. I flew around for about 5 minutes and then, after the cylce passed by, I found nothing but sink. It was a sledder all the way from the top to the lz. The flight lasted about 16 minutes. Guido launched a bit later and had a good flight of about 15-20 min. He had all kinds of lift, but it was a little too rough for him, so he put on big ears and flew them all the way to the Lz. Obviously, it was the kind of day that had we launched later in the afternoon, the cycles would have been weaker and spaced closer together. But, when you have to be home early, you have to fly early.

Hallo to all,
it was a great flight yesterday at Box Canyon. For me the conditions were a little bit too rough for the first flight here, but I really enjoyed it. I am still hungry and if anyone of you plans to fly today and the wind is not too strong for a paraglider (maybe at glass-off) you can send an SMS on my cellphone +49 1752937655.
