Flying Saturday? (Nope. Sunday at Miller)

Post by jlowery » Thu Apr 27, 2006 3:41 pm

It looks decent for Saturday, light NNE AM, northwest PM.

Eric is thinking about leaving town around 7:30 AM for Miller Canyon, and if that doesn't work out then Box Canyon in the PM. I'll be along, still looking for the first flight on the new Sport2.

Anyone else?

John

Eric called and said it was looking like Miller was going to be blowing west all day, and the NOAA winds aloft forecast has changed, they've got it northwest all day now.

So, it looks like Box Canyon tomorrow, Miller still looks good for Sunday.

I would be up for either or both days if anyone else is interested.

I cannot fly Saturday afternoon, but I can fly Sunday.

The air mass is tending to get more stable. I would prefer to fly on Sat.
I may visit the training hills Sat morning, or leave from my house around 1130 for Box? Post if your interested in flying.

The air is also warming up dramatically. I would like to fly Miller on Sunday. Anyone want to carpool from Sonoita? I may have a driver.

I can collect you in Sonoita or ride with you. We should get an early start.

New plan: Miller Sunday

Post by jlowery » Sat Apr 29, 2006 8:31 am

Eric cancelled for Box. Winds aloft are looking iffy.

He'd like to try for Miller Canyon tomorrow. I'd rather my first flight in a new glider be at Miller anyway, so I'm up for that.

So as it stands now, we'll probably be leaving Eric's place around 7:30 AM tomorrow.

I have the whole day available on Sunday. Right now, it looks like glass-off at Box or Mustang is a better bet than Miller for the PGs, but Eric has only 30+ years of weather forecasting on me. :) Maybe I'll start at Miller in the morning and migrate to Mustang or Box for the evening.

I'll check the board again tonight. Anyone who wants a ride, please leave a message here or ring me at 906-4868.

John and I are planning to meet in Sonoita at 7:15, and be at the LZ at 8:00. We have a driver. (The sun rises at 5:38a; we baggies want to be at launch by 9:00) Anyone else?
