Miller Canyon Road Project

Post by John Wolfe » Mon Jun 09, 2014 6:51 pm

Our Miller Canyon road maintenance project is well funded thanks to the folks who have already donated.

Now we need people to commit to doing the work. Presently, we are planning for Saturday, August 16th as the work day, and we need at least six people to make good use of the equipment. More would be better, and I think it's safe to say that if everyone who has flown the site during the past few years or plans to fly it during the next few years turned up, we would easily put them all to good use on this project.

Please post here indicating whether you can commit to working on the road on August 16th.

Details regarding meeting time, tools and vehicles to bring, etc. will be posted later.

We could congregate in LZ or lower restroom parking lot. I plan on heading up the Mt. @ 6:30am. If folks are heading up later, I my need to borrow someones gate key.

The USFS has agreed to do some repair work on our Miller Canyon access road before the end of August. Consequently, we agreed during the August club meeting to move the work day to September 6th, and we will also use the 7th if necessary. Our work will focus on finishing any remaining road work and preparing our launches for use.

We will need at least three PG pilots and at least three HG pilots to prepare the launches. After the USFS completes its work on the road, we will determine how many people and what sort of equipment we need for the remaining road work.

Please allocate September 6th and 7th on your calendars and post here if you plan to be there to help.

What are the plans for the Miller work party? I'm planning to make it out one day, don't know if I can pull it off for 2 days. I'm planning to bring my usual road and launch repair tools and my helper (Jennifer) as well. I prefer to go early to get most of it done before it gets hot.

Let me know what day & what time your planning to go.
